History

Our church began as Lucas Christian Church over 100 years ago as an extension of the Forest Grove Christian Church. The small white building located just west of the Sanctuary was the original sanctuary erected in 1905.

Over the years the church grew and additions were added to the facilities to make way for the growth of the church family.  In 1980 Bob Bethke accepted the call as the first full-time Senior Pastor in church history and served the local church 27 years.

We took on our first missionary in 1980 and now support missionaries throughout the world. We’ve sent out our own missionaries and support those the Holy Spirit has sent our way. Missions are and always will be a major part of our history.

During the late 80’s our church became non-denominational. We brought on additional staff in the 1990s and in 1999 birthed our first church, New Hope Christian Church in nearby Wylie, Texas.

In 2000 we began Lucas Christian Academy with just over 50 students. For the next 3 years our academy doubled in size each year. In 2006 our enrollment remained just under 300 students in grades K through 12.  Lucas Christian Academy has grown into their own entity and have purchased 16 acres of land and we look forward to seeing a new school facility in the open area next to the church.

In 2009 Faith Fellowship alleviated all debt by selling a portion of the unused acreage to Lucas Christian Academy for future school facilities.

As our community has grown and changed over the years so has the local church.  In 2006 we changed our church name to Faith Fellowship, which represents who we are:  a caring and healthy church family that loves people.  We are a non-denominational, full gospel church striving to continue to make an impact with Kingdom advancing ministry in Lucas, our surrounding communities of Collin County and our world.
